June 17- July 27
This year’s theme is "Dig into Reading."
Adult patrons can look forward to a summer of Groundbreaking Reads. Adults will receive a ticket for every item checked out. Tickets can then be filled out and returned to be entered in a weekly prize drawing. Non-winning tickets will be put into the Grand Prize drawing at the end of Summer Reading. The more items you check out, the better your chance of winning a fabulous prize! Be sure to look for an in-library “Earthy Word Find” activity and a "Cave Quiz" contest.
This year’s Teen theme is Beneath the Surface, and we have many “underground” activities planned. Activities will include “Graffiti at the Library,” a “Find Your Roots” genealogy program and more. Teens will earn a ticket for each book checked out. Tickets can be turned in for chances to win weekly prizes, and the teen with the most tickets at the end of Summer Reading will also receive a prize.
Children can also get ready to Dig into Reading this summer. Registration for children begins June 10th. Kids can choose to read six books or read for six hours during the length of the program. Each book checked out or hour read earns a book or time strip. Each strip returned to the Children’s Room is entered into a drawing for a weekly prize. Every three strips returned also earn one Friends Book Buck and a small prize. The more books you read, the more Bucks you earn to spend at the Friends Bookstore or Book Sales! The Children’s Summer Reading Final Program, “Digging for Library Gold,” will be held on July 29, from 9:30-11 am. Earn your ticket to this special pro-gram by reaching your six book or six hour goal and returning your strips.

Programs are open to all children who are registered for Summer Reading. Registration begins June 10. Programs may include stories, crafts, fun and a snack. All programs are held from 3-4 pm.
