Tech Petting Zoo

Curious about upcoming and emerging technology? Stop by Reed Memorial Library’s Tech Petting Zoo on Monday, October 1 at 6:30 pm.
Participants will have the opportunity gain hands-on experience interacting with new technology trends, virtual reality, e-Health technology, and kids technology.

Civic Ravenna Walking Tour

Reed Memorial Library, in partnership with Main Street Ravenna, will present a walking tour about civic Ravenna on Tuesday, September 25 at 5:30 pm.
Enjoy a walk downtown while learning about the stories and history behind the city’s most prominent civic buildings. Buildings will include the post office, library, courthouse, and city hall.

Edible Fall Mushrooms with Don King

Don King, the Mushroom Hunter, will be here on Saturday, September 1 at 1:00 pm to discuss fall mushrooms and mushroom hunting.
Participants will learn about edible mushrooms that are located in our area during the fall months.

Don King specializes in leading mushroom hunts where people have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience searching for and identifying edibles safely. King has also appeared on Quick Bites (NPR) and Fox 8’s New Day Cleveland where he has shared recipes with his exotic edible ingredients.

Registration is required for this program.

 

An Evening with Susan Kay Wyatt

Author Susan Kay Wyatt will be at Reed Memorial Library on Monday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss her latest book No Crown Required, a collection of intimate stories and self-realizations about her experience in the Miss America pageant.
While the Miss America pageant is steeped in controversies regarding the #MeToo Movement and swimsuit competition, Wyatt believes the pageant perpetuates unrealistic expectations of perfection and beauty in today's society. Through her stories and wisdom, Wyatt hopes to inspire women of all ages to step into their best bold selves.
Wyatt was born in Ravenna, Ohio and won the Miss Ohio pageant in 1987. Today, she is a mother and mentors her daughter to be a confident, courageous, and compassionate woman.
Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.

Get the latest scoop about upcoming releases through Penguin Random House at Reed Memorial Library on Tuesday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m.
Meet with Amanda Fensch, Penguin Random House representative for a sneak peek and first look at books coming out in Spring 2019. Discover upcoming books by popular authors, or new authors for you to enjoy. This program is highly recommended for anyone interested in reading or discovering new authors. Walking Tour: Ravenna’s Early Industries

Join Reference Librarian, Kevin Gray, for a guided tour around downtown Ravenna on Tuesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m.
This tour will touch upon the stories about Ravenna's earliest industries. Learn what made Ravenna so successful. This tour is weather dependent. Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Registration is required. This tour is now full. We will offer it again in the future.

 

Social Media II

Learn social media basics on Tuesday, August 7 at 3:00 p.m.
Participants will learn and gain hands-on experience using Pinterest and Instagram. Learn easy ways to share and keep tabs of your favorite websites, or photographs. Basic mouse and keyboard skills are required for this program. Registration is required and space is limited.
