Multi-Age Program

Amateur Cake Decorating Contest

Saturday, November 4
10:30 a.m.

This contest is open to anyone ages five and up who bakes and decorates a cake using a Reed Memorial Library cake pan. Cake pans are available at the circulation desk to borrow.
Cakes will be judged on general appearance, originality, overall taste, and creativity. Prizes will be awarded for each age level. Participants are asked to pick up an entry form and official rules at the Children’s Desk.

 

Settlers of Catan Tournament

Saturday, November 4
9:30am - 4:30pm

Celebrate International Games Day with open gaming and a Settlers of Catan tournament. Bring friends and join us for table top, role playing, and card games. Feel free to bring your own favorite games to share or play with others. Registration is required for the tournament.

Walking Tour of Maple Grove Cemetery

Saturday, October 28
2pm

Maple Grove Cemetery is located across from Ravenna High School on North Chestnut Street. Park near the front of the Cemetery. We will meet by the Chapel at the main entrance. The guided tour will look at early and notable burials, including Sluman Smith, Frederick Loudin, ship captain John Coleman, the Carters, the Holcombs, Riddles, Mertzes, Taylors, Brantleys, and others. Rain date: Sunday, October 29 at 2pm.  Presented by Portage County Historical Society & Reed Memorial Library. This program is free and open to the public. No registration required.

 

Memorial Dedication Service

Reed Memorial Library will be hosting a memorial dedication service on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Please join us in the parking lot island while we dedicate the memorial for Louise Starling. Louise was a dedicated member of our Children’s Department and helped children and families from 1994 until 2017.

 

 

Throwback Thursday Party

Join Reed Memorial Library as we launch our new cataloging and circulation system!  To celebrate, the Library will host a Launch Party on Thursday, August 31 from 2-6 p.m. Participants will enjoy light fare, desserts, activities, and music for the entire family.

This special Throwback Thursday party will travel all the way back to the early 2000's when the current software was installed.  Relive memories of Reed Memorial Library, the city of Ravenna, and the lives of our staff members during the turn of the century.

No registration is required.

Rock Painting Party

Teens ages 13 and up and adults are invited to Reed Memorial Library on Saturday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. for a special rock painting party.

Participants will try their hands at painting rocks that may be used to participate in the popular painted rock scavenger hunt. All supplies will be provided.

Registration is required.

Bobcats of Ohio

Join Jamie from the Ohio Wildlife Division on Wednesday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. to learn all about bobcats in Ohio.

During this family program, participants will learn fascinating facts about bobcats, their hunting styles, and their homes.

Registration is required for this event.

Build a Better Cupcake

Families are invited to an afternoon of decorating fun on Saturday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m.

Participants will receive an unfrosted cupcake for them to decorate using their creativity and provided supplies. Afterward, participants may eat their creation.
