Ignite your fire safety knowledge with this fun-filled family event hosted in partnership with the Ravenna Fire Department.
Join us for this exciting event where learning about fire safety is fun for all ages! The Ravenna Fire Department will be on-site with a firetruck for a thrilling Touch-a-Truck experience. Kids and adults can climb aboard, explore the truck, and meet real-life heroes!
Don’t miss the chance to try out the virtual fire extinguisher demo machine and practice putting out "fires" in a hands-on, interactive way. Throughout the event, fire safety presentations will take place at scheduled times, offering essential tips and information for keeping your family safe.
As a special treat, Marshall from Paw Patrol will make a guest appearance, bringing smiles to kids of all ages with his firefighting pup enthusiasm.
Whether you’re here for the truck, the demos, or to learn life-saving tips, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Come get fired up for safety at the library!
Fire Safety Presentations (located in the Jenkins Meeting Room):
- 11:15-11:45: Home cooking safety—This presentation is geared towards families and highlights the common safety concerns with cooking at home, how to avoid common mistakes, and what to do in the event of a cooking-related fire.
- 11:45-12:15: Smoke Detectors 101—This presentation emphasizes the importance of properly placed and working smoke detectors at home. Whether you rent or own your home, working smoke detectors and a fire escape plan ensure you’ll be prepared to get out safely.
- 12:15-12:45: Fire extinguisher show and tell - Ever wonder what’s in a fire extinguisher, how about how to use one? This presentation will give you a quick lesson on the history of fire extinguishers and the technology behind them. You will then get the opportunity to use a modified fire extinguisher with the latest technology to extinguish a virtual fire. How fast can you put out the flames?
